APPLY FOR A HOME

As HFHTT does not yet have the resources to provide land, beneficiaries must have their own land or have access to land on which they are legally authorized to build and reside. To qualify for Habitat assistance the partner families must earn not more than TT$4,000 monthly and must be able and willing to repay their loan.

Every approved family also promises the donation of 300 hours of “sweat equity”, although if the homeowner works or is physically unable to build, a family member or friend may substitute for them. Before construction begins on any home the beneficiary must complete one hundred hours on another partner family’s home.

If your family, or a family you know, is in need of decent, affordable housing, please contact us on the net at www.habitat-tt.org, or call 675-1222, or visit us at our offices on the 2nd floor Real Value Complex on the corner of the Eastern Main Rd. and Mount Lambert South.

At your request we will give you information on the availability, size, costs, "sweat equity" work requirements, and application process for Habitat houses in your area.

Please note that homeowners are chosen based on the following three criteria:

• the applicants' level of need,

• their willingness to become partners in the program

• and their ability to repay the no-profit, no-interest loan.

Neither race nor religion is a factor in choosing the families who receive Habitat houses.

Habitat encourages individuals and companies to join us in our campaign to eradicate poverty housing. There are very few activities more satisfying than providing needed help to a fellow human being in need. We therefore encourage people to volunteer their time, resources and expertise to aid in our community building projects.
