Key Landmarks

1997
  • With humble beginnings in 1997, under the umbrella of the Foundation for the Enhancement and Enrichment of Life (FEEL). 
  • Clive Pantin appointed first Chief Executive Chairman of HFHTT.
  • Habitat for Humanity completes its first sets of homes with funds donated by the British High Commission. Ingrid Guerra of Guaico and her two children were the first recipients.

1998

  • Piloting the Habitat mission in Rio Claro, Penal, Mayaro and Gasperiallo

1999

  •  HFHTT held its first AGM and appointed KPMG as the official external auditor.

2000 

  • " HFHTT hosted Caribbean Youth Build 2000, with volunteer youths from all over the Caribbean participating in the construction of three homes in Mayaro and Rio Claro. 

 

2001 

  • Hosted World Leader's Build, during the build was able to have President Robinson, the then Opposition Leader Mr. Basdeo Panday and Minister of Housing, Mr. Baskh who were present to build with Habitat at various construction phases during the week long build. 

2002 

  • " First Mail Shot Campaign as a major fund-raising drive.

2003

  • The President of Trinidad & Tobago, His Excellency George Maxwell Richards becomes the patron of Habitat for Humanity Trinidad & Tobago and hosted dinner with strategic partners. The former President His Excellency Arthur Napoleon Raymond Robinson was the previous patron. 
2004
  • Habitat for Humanity introduces its new House Repair Loan service.
  • His Excellency George Maxwell Richards hosted dinner with Habitat for Humanity. 

2005 

  • Habitat established an Advisory Board with chair and vice-chair being Sir Ellis Clarke & Professor Ken Julien respectfully.

2006

  • Reorganised the entire staff complement. 
  • Hosted 1st signature event; "Hammer it Home"; a charity golf tournament at Millennium Lakes.

2007

  • Reorganised programme to operate as projects.
  • Housing solutions to date - 105 with 16 under construction.
  • A land project's desk was opened. 
  • HFHTT won the BPTT Spirit of Community Award "SOCA", a grant was awarded of TT$30,000 to address land issues for 15 needy families.
  • Commenced the project Housing Our Most Siblings "HOMES" in collaboration with Phoenix Park Gas Processors Limited (PPGPL), a project to address 20 families housing needs. PPGPL won the internationally acclaimed Stieve Awards for this project in Munich Germany on September 10, 2007.
